Unit 1 Reflection

 Within all of the analysis that I have done I can conclude that the first source I chose was a news article How is Technology Changing the World and How Should the World Change, by Josephine Wolf, is a solid and non-bias article and I feel as though the quality is very good. This article discusses the pros and cons which determines both perspectives of technology thus indicating there is minimal bias, for instance technology advancements can overcome “climate change, famine and disease”(Wolf, 2021). This indicates the positives of technology while she also includes “But it can also be a tool of tremendous fear and oppression, embedding biases in automated decision-making processes” (Wolf, 2021). This portrays both perspectives of the advancements of technology, indicating that it is a credible source. Within the YouTube video, it seems that YouTube can sometimes not be as credible because anyone can post on it and it is not an educational site. Therefore it’s not as credible as the articles that I’ve chosen. The reviews seem to be saying that it is credible and it also discusses both pros and cons of technology by providing visuals of statistical data shown in the screenshot of my analysis, thus indicating that it is a quality source. My other source that is definitely credible is an educational article Will Our Educational System Keep Pace with AI? A Student's Perspective on AI and Learning, by William J. Yin this source is partially credible, indicating percentages and factual information about the use of AI chat, and how it benefits the educational system and students as a whole yet he includes his own personal perspective which includes a little bit of bias, which is not as credible and quality of the source. For example “In the summer of 2023, my self-study focused on developing an innovative approach for early detection of body signals (also known as biomarkers) for brain tumors. My engagement with ChatGPT started with the prompt "What are the known biomarkers for CNS cancers?" For this type of question, I usually would have spent hours searching the PubMed database and reading review articles to find the answer’ (Yin, 2024). Therefore, this indicates that he is putting his own personal opinion about AI Chatbots within this educational article.

Within this portfolio to enhance my project, I would use the source to change my words up and give a more detailed word as well as I would use Safari to sometimes give me some main aid due to some of the articles being very wordy and advanced. I also used Safari to look up the YouTube video that I chose for one of my analyses and watched it on my iPad which enhanced my project because I could finally see visuals which not a lot of students did. I also shared in the analysis of visuals that was shown in the video. I used Google Docs to help with my spelling errors and provide me with tools that can change my text in advance for my project. I even used AI to ask some questions about what Kairos was and even interpreting some of the analysis are quite sins that were provided just so I had a deeper understanding of what the prompt was asking.

The quality of my sources are pretty reliable because I mostly got them from educational sites. Yet I found one from YouTube, which is not that credible but, my article sources are from educational sites. Therefore they are strictly factual yet one of them could definitely be a little biased when it comes to AI Chatbot, providing a little bit of a more persuasive perspective on AI chatbots rather than fully expressing both benefits and disadvantages of the AI chatbots. Some holes in my analysis typically were in the overall larger conversation where I can go more in depth with the overall reasons why these technological advancements can benefit and hurt society today. Therefore, that could be my overarching topic that I can fully research myself and provide more details.

I see myself using all these sources because it all ties into the bigger picture of what I now can see as Unit 2 because I can definitely provide a thesis with all of these analysis that I have done. I am able to pitch a project and write about all these benefits and disadvantages of technology and provide better quality sources, and a wide range of sources rather than just educational articles. I can even provide different perspectives, whether students or adolescence or even adult adults and for this analysis provided me with a step-by-step tool of completing the Unit 2 project. I even challenged myself very well because I definitely use different platforms, but I could definitely use more platforms next time as well. I also can challenge myself by giving a more advanced and in depth analysis rather than just some in-depth key components for instance in the YouTube video I deceived to use. A different medium than everyone else by providing the screenshot. I also grouped my paragraphs accordingly and effectively as well.

  Within the tech savvy world, many social norms include posting selfies of what people do in a day. Specifically, what people wear in a day or what people eat in a day. Many people think it’s very social to post what they are doing throughout their everyday lives. Yet, it can be very invasive when coming to privacy and people think about social hierarchies. Throughout society today people truly think that they are cool or popular. Occasionally people can be very foolish or even offensive in a way throughout technology. People tend to want to post so everyone can see them doing exciting and cool things so that people wish they were doing those activities.
