Analysis 1: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/21/fashion/a-pencil-shop-for-texting-the-old-fashioned-way.html
Within the news article, A Pencil Shop for Texting the Old-Fashioned Way, by Molly Young, the genre is special business ideas due to the magazine including a different outlook on the pencil industry and marketing it more original and meaningful with different types of pencils from all over the world for instance, “Ms. Weaver indicated a marbled Creamsicle-colored number with “‘Made in India’ stamped on the side (30 cents). ‘I also like this one at the moment,’ she said, offering a pencil from the century-old company Caran d’Ache ($4.50). ‘It’s made of beechwood.’ There was no eraser on the pencil; instead, a shiny nub lacquered with a Swiss cross gleamed at one end” (Young, 2005). This expresses diverse cultures in which technology cannot do and creates a sense of personalization and meaning when using the pencils, even talking about the intricate details of each specific pencil creates a rarity Like no other. Kairos is very important because within the technology dense society we live in today, opening up a pencil shop is defying the social norms and going back into the old days with just a simple pencil and paper. Therefore by defying the social norms she made a business idea that flourished into something personable and unique. The audience is various people within society because she discusses the amount of people of different ages that come in to get a pencil therefore this impacts the genre of special business ideas by attracting all different types of people.
Within my life I love the simple things. Specifically a pencil and paper. Back when I was young I would always have favorite pencils and pens, and it would make me believe that I would do better on exams or take better notes. This gave me an incentive to study harder and do better in school because I had a unique component when studying. I believe this was successful because it enhances her unique store and helps get people to come and buy her pencils with a purpose. Technology cannot have a cultural component while these specific pencils have multiple cultural components of where they’re made, how they are made and what they look like.
This news article discusses nostalgia just like when the, “elegant woman lifted a pencil with a crabbed grip. “Samantha, remember when you wrote like this?” she asked a younger woman. “I still do, Mom,’” (Young, 2005).This reveals individuals looking back at simple times when kids used to use a pencil on a paper for many things rather than open up their computers or watching TV instead, they would draw something with a cool pencil or even a coloring book. Even the way people write and the elegant calligraphy and how they use a simple pencil. Pencils are universal and are timeless, a guy in the shop states, “‘Because it’s cool,’ he said. ‘And how often can you buy a functional thing from the 1950s in mint condition for $5?’”(Young,2005). This indicates that technology can be very expensive and less personable, meanwhile a simple pencil is worth a few dollars and can mean so much.

Within the news article How is Technology Changing the World and How Should the World Change, by Josephine Wolf. She discusses the struggle between multiple connections of the world due to human technological advancements. These include human-to-human connections and even human- natural relations. Within society today, technology is on the verge of impacting social issues and creating risks of many individuals due to the vast advancements. Her main goal is to analyze what certain authorities can do to minimize such evolution of technology and change it so it is more beneficial for the people. This expresses that technology is taking over society yet, there are various benefits about the influence of technology. For instance, it can overcome “climate change, famine and disease”(Wolf, 2021). These are all specific ways technological advancements can truly help the world. While there are many benefits, there needs to be a limit to this progression, therefore this article proposes the impacts of “how technology can best be leveraged, protected, and even constrained” (Wolf, 2021). This exemplifies the government will be regulating technology so that it doesn’t impact society negatively and hurt many outcomes in the future.
The genre is obtaining the advantages and disadvantages of technology which impacts the author's projects. These include kairos which basically is the right time or a moment indicating that this was the perfect time to talk about this in the news article because of the evolution of technology that is occurring, such as surveillance cameras and how it benefits society today. Also it includes digital cash such as cryptocurrencies which is damaging society currently. This articles intended audience is a broad angle of people, including adolescents , middle aged parents, and even government workers. Specifically government workers due to the systematic approach of regulating technological advancements so there is a decrease in negative impacts of technology. It also adheres to adolescents because they are the future society that will be dictating these positives and negatives of technology. Even middle aged parents are included to provide their children the positives and negatives of technology as they grow and become wiser. For instance when she states, “But it can also be a tool of tremendous fear and oppression, embedding biases in automated decision-making processes and information-processing algorithms, exacerbating economic and social inequalities within and between countries” (Wolf, 2021). She is indicating technology can hurt children’s minds by not allowing them to make their own decisions and work their brains. She also is concerned about technology influencing and brainwashing people within society.
I believe that the authors' key takeaways are mostly about how technology influences the world and the depths of what amount of evolution occurs. Since technology is more evolved, the political component of technology becomes impacted as well. There are a lot of benefits and disadvantages of technology, which includes the use of iPhones and specific apps through social media. Media is very different and there are parts of cancer culture in there while there are a lot of benefits, such as vaccines, but those also can create Harm to animals in the world.I think what she said succeeded because it also talked about technology as a whole and how it impacts the world then it also goes in depth into what technology does and the benefits and the disadvantages of technology.
Analysis 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsfnP_NWIs4
When watching the Youtube Video, The Pros and Cons of Technology, by Tech Trend Loop the tone of the video was very interesting, for me personally I thought that it was an AI voice audio which indicates its monotone and lifeless voice that secretly identifies a con of technology that can be very boring and hard to listen to all of the information thrown at you. Within the YouTube video there were multiple high tech transitions which also hints at the benefits of technology. The genre indicates exploring the nature of technology pros and cons and its impact on society today. It is influenced by the project because individuals today are affected by the pros and consequences of technology. The genre enhances business winners and workers by providing them with efficiency for instance “It increases the efficiency of a business process by saving time and completing tasks quicker” (Tech, 2023). This indicates that it persuades the viewers to use technology to enhance their work ethics. Within this screenshot of the YouTube Video it provides the viewer with the specific analytics that are shown a bold increase in productivity for business openers. With all of these large peaks and full circles, it reveals distinct statistical benefits that technology has and provides the viewers with real life examples of these benefits.
My own assessment indicates that it did succeed because it thoroughly discussed the pros and cons of technology and how it impacts society as a whole. Therefore it is successful because it is making its point across. When the video was discussing zoom meetings it indicated “this hurts the quality and depth of human relationships” (Tech, 2023). This exemplified a part of my life because I saw this happen in person when meeting new people at college. COVID-19 truly impacted my peers' social lives and now people are very insecure about the way they act in front of people. Even within lectures, the attention span of an average student decreases greatly as time passes due to the enhancements of technology. This fits into the larger conversation because it discusses society as a whole the pros and cons of technology and how it impacts the world through social media platforms. How we interact on technology has changed the way we interact with family and friends. Technology helps people get tasks done faster and efficiently to do more in a day and also aids economic development.
Analysis 4:
Within the article , Will Our Educational System Keep Pace with AI? A Student's Perspective on AI and Learning, by William J. Yin, uses kairos to provide the specific students and college students with the repercussions of using AI chatbots. Within society today modern technology advancements include AI chatbots that have completely impacted the educational system. For instance “Critics have raised valid concerns regarding academic dishonesty, as the remarkable capabilities of AI chatbots to produce human-like responses and intricate computer codes can be exploited for difficult-to-detect cheating in academia” (Yin, 2024) this indicates that the education system should be aware if these sly tools people use in order to get beet grades on work. The genre of this article is to advise students and education systems to use AI chatbots. Yin indicates that there are many benefits towards these AI chatbots that include “maximizing students' potential and addressing diverse learning needs. With advancements in technology and data analysis, education can be tailored to the unique strengths, interests, and learning styles of each student” (Yin, 2024). This justifies that AI chatbots aid students to learn new languages and help exchange writing skills and even make students smarter providing factual information in a second influencing students and educational systems to use them.
I believe it succeeded because as a reader I was persuaded into believing AI can be very beneficial to many people. Within my life I have seen plagiarism due to the use of AI chatbots that provided a whole assignment for people due to their lazy work ethic. Within society today many people take advantage of AI chatbots because it is less time consuming and they don't have to do the work on their own. This impacts their learning abilities, yet, there are many new benefits that the author discusses. The author provides a new outlook to AI chatbots that include aiding with language barriers, more curiosity for students that are eager to learn, and more academic success. Within my life I use ChatGPT to generate all of my study guides and help me make quizzes so I am successful in the future. Therefore AI chatbots are leading to academic success for many individuals.
Life before and life after AI indicates the self impacts of the advancements of technology. The use of AI chatbots reduces time to collect research and provide detailed analysis of specific questions people have. Many individuals are now using AI to further advance their academic career and good ads and bad ways. People use AI to understand different cultures and enhance their knowledge. Within society today many people are reliant on AI to answer all of their questions.
